Bully Rescue Program

Hughs Bully Rescue is special program of Hughs Pet Adoption. We just have to treat some of the bully breeds a little bit differently. We have started up this program to help out all of the Bully Breeds we can. We do the Bully's adoptions, behavior testing, kenneling, and dog run a lot different than a chihuahuas. The Adoptors go through a longer process and we are very thorough! The Behavior testing is alot more thorough too, we check more for dog aggression, cat aggression, we test them to see if they act aggressive towards different  situations. We rescue abused, unwanted and stray dogs and find them responsible, safe homes where they can thrive both physically and mentally. We believe that the public needs to be educated about the breeds characteristics to understand the breeds that we love. Through humane education programs and activities, we hope to make the public better understand the bully breeds that so often discriminated against.

We started the Bully Rescue Program mid 2008!

We are located in Pawhuska, OK. Our bully's stay at our kennels or are fostered out throughout Oklahoma and Kansas!

What is the adoption process like?
When you contact HBR we will help you figure out which dog will do best in your situation. In order to make an informed suggestion we will require you to fill out the adoption application first. After the adoption application has been reviewed and accepted we will setup a time and date for you and the adoptee to be to meet. When you decide you want to adopt, HBR will do a check to make sure you have no prioir history in dog fighting or criminal records. Once everything is done you must bring to the shelter with you your other dogs to see how they interact and if all goes well you will retun home with a new family member.

What does the adoption fee include?
Spay/Neuter, Vaccinations, Exams, Rabies Vaccination for dogs old enough, De-Worming, Food & Board while at HBR.

I work full time, does that mean I can't have an animal?
If you are not home 8 to 9 hours a day there are still many animals who will do fine in your family. We do not recommend getting puppies under 6 months of age if they will be alone for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time. Instead consider a dog older than 6 months, or a cat of any age. As long as you are able to provide 3 to 4 walks a day for a dog, and spend plenty of quality time with your pet when you are home, as well as care for its emotional, nutritional and medical needs you will make a fine "parent."

I'm not in/near Oklahoma. What do I do?
We can give you a list of local organizations in your area that have the Bully Breeds!
